Essential Info

Inveraray Hostel is a small, independent hostel offering simple, friendly accommodation to travellers who enjoy being part of a transient community

All guests are welcome to use our fully-equipped kitchen, social dining area & cosy wee lounge, where you’ll find plenty of books, magazines, board games & musical instruments for entertainment. We also have a drying room for the drying of damp outerwear, & secure bicycle storage. Hostel guides, maps & information about the local area & onward travel are available at reception – just ask!

Please note that dorms are shared by both male & female guests; bathrooms are communal, separated by sex; bed linen is provided & towels are available to hire.

We want all guests to feel at home here & our policies are in place to help promote a comfortable environment for everyone

Check-in from 3.30pm – 9.30pm

Sorry, no day-time access. Our hostel is closed during the day, from 10am until 3.30pm
All guests are kindly asked to vacate the hostel during this time. We’re a small hostel that cannot afford to be open all day.

Quiet time
We rely on our guests to be considerate of each other & to respectfully keep noise to a minimum from 10pm – 8am to allow others to rest, relax & sleep

Pets
Well-behaved animals with responsible owners are welcome to explore the hostel grounds but are not permitted into the hostel building

Children
Children under 16 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian & be booked into a private room with accompanying adult. Children may not sleep in shared dorms or stay in a room by themselves

Children of any age are not permitted to stay for free. We have a maximum guest capacity of 22 & we cannot exceed this

Please note that we do not provide travel cots, high chairs, nappy-changing facilities or a baby-sitting service. We do not have en-suite ‘family’ rooms, guest laundry facilities, a designated play area or a games room. Some parents may find our accommodation unsuitable for the comfort or entertainment of their children

Campers
We do not permit sleeping anywhere on the premises except in beds in our rooms. This means no camping in the garden or car park, in tents, campers, caravans or similar. The hostel facilities, including the garden & car park, are strictly for the use of our guests, not our guests’ friends

Groups
Bookings from groups of more than 6 guests – whether booked in a single stage or in multiple stages – may be rejected. Large groups can dominate the hostel & make other guests feel uncomfortable. Please consider hiring the hostel for exclusive use if you wish to bring a large group here

Accessibility
We regret that Inveraray Hostel does not currently feature wheelchair access nor any adapted facilities. However, it may still be suitable for some disabled guests: there are a few steps up to/down from the entrances but the entire building is single-storey, & all bathroom facilities are level, walk-in cubicles. We have several rooms with single beds in & one room with a double. It is a small & easily navigable hostel

Smoking
Needless to say, smoking inside the building of any substance in any device which emits smoke or steam is not only prohibited, it is against the law

Cancellations
A full refund will be issued to reservations cancelled more than 14 days in advance of booked arrival date. For reservations cancelled within 14 days of booked arrival date, or in the case of a guest failing to arrive, no refund will be issued
